About this project
For this game I made a dialogue system where it displays on screen, the name of the person and what they are saying for a set amount of time. Once this time is up it will disapper off the screen. This was made a function to allow for easy use and can be applied quickly.
There are a range of puzzles used in this game. These are unique to each level and help tell the story.
In level 1 the puzzle that the player has to solve is finding an item in the room. When they do find it, it is behind some blocks that they must move out of the way by clicking them to be able to pick up the item.
In level 2 the player must use building blocks to build pathways to get across the level and make it to the end.
In level 3 the player must find clues through the level, each one leads to the next until they find the person they are looking for at the end.
In level 4 they must make their way through a busy street and make it to the end where they are trying to get to.
As this was complted near the start of my first year of University, me and many of my collagues had not used unreal much. This made it challenging for people to know how to build levels in the engine. This meant that once other members had complted making assets for each level some of my tasks was putting these assets together to make the levels. As the assets were 2D there was no barrier for walls so invisable blocks were needed to stop the player from going through sections they were not meant to. Also the puzzles needed to be added to the levels so with that in mind I added these as I built the levels where nessessary and made sure it was playable before moving this into the main build of the game.
